Our Story
The State of Israel was established and grew against a background of complex challenges that no modern nation has had to face. Through the vision and the work of the founding generation, the young country stood on its feet and established itself as a prosperous democracy and a national home for all the Jews of the world.
But alongside the great success of the Zionist enterprise, the country has suffered since its foundation from social and political divisions and the lack of a constitutional and institutional infrastructure that will ensure its continued existence and prosperity. Over the years, the cracks widened and revealed weaknesses and institutional failures that were established in the corridors of power in Israel and created “islands of control” of different and opposing worldviews. Little by little, a sense of tribalism, translated into the discourse of “us and them,” settled in Israeli society and politics. These phenomena harm the social resilience of the country and gradually erode the quality of its political institutions and its governmental foundations.
In the eighth decade of the country’s existence, Israeli society needs a sharp internal look at the cracks and weaknesses that threaten it and a mental and value refresh, which will translate into an improvement in public decision-making mechanisms.
Tachlith was established because we believe that the responsibility for correction rests not only on the shoulders of the government and its executive institutions. Civil society in Israel must take an active part in the work of thinking and doing to establish a model society, strengthening the existence and security of the state and strengthening its Jewish and democratic character. To realize this vision, we at the institute drive processes to improve and strengthen governance, the economy, security and society through research, policy promotion and cooperation with government bodies, academia and the economy.

Government and law
We work to strengthen Israeli democracy and its institutions and create an effective system of government based on a state concept.
Public and economic policy
We work to improve the public service systems, to think about the division of labor between the central government and the local government, and to encourage growth while maintaining the ethos of the welfare state and a commitment to mutual guarantee.
Company
We are working to renew the civil alliance between all parts of Israeli society and to create a new social contract adapted to the challenges of the digital age.
National security
In the field of national security, we focus on examining and implementing innovative ideas to strengthen Israel’s security and its relations with its neighbors.
